According to media reports the number of children who learn skiing is constantly decreasing – due to varied reasons, but above all because of high costs which are not always affordable for families.

Ötztal Tourismus and the Hochoetz Ski Region will counteract this trend by offering the ultimate Happy Family Weeks and attracting families and guests to the ski slopes again. What is the best way to convince them? An unbeatable offer for the youngest skiers:

• 17 December – 24 December 2016
• 07 January – 28 January 2017
• 18 March – 01 April 2017

all young guests born in or after 2011 – staying in the holiday villages of Haming-Ochsengarten, Sautens, Oetz and Umhausen-Niederthai – can take part in a free ski course. Optionally, they can participate in a free child activity program. And what’s best, the kids also receive a free skipass!

Happy Family Weeks: a long-running success

This unique deal has been attracting huge numbers of families over the last decade. The story of success started in the 2001/2002 winter season when the Sautens Tourist Board organized the Happy Family Weeks for the very first time. Only one year later the Oetz Tourist Board joined in.

Since the local tourist boards merged in 2006, the bargain family deal is available to all guests who stay min. 7 nights in the surrounding holiday villages of Haiming-Ochsengarten, Sautens, Oetz and Umhausen-Niederthai.

The superb Hochoetz Ski Region makes an excellent spot for the Happy Family Weeks. The family-friendly ski area at 2020 meters can be reached from Oetz in only 8 minutes. Once at the gondola’s top station, there are heaps of attractions stretching up to 2300 meters above sea level.

At the top station of Acherkogel mountain gondola you will soon understand why the ski area received an award for its “family-friendliness”: A larger-than-life penguin, the mascot of a Hochoetz ski school, warmly welcomes skiers of all ages. During the Happy Family Weeks all 4 ski schools of Hochoetz take care of the kids. But there is another lovely animal: WIDI, the mountain sheep promises fun and action in a row. Sometimes it’s not easy to find him, maybe he is hiding in his giant WIDIVERSUM family adventure land?

Activity program for the youngest skiers

In case you can’t find the lovely little sheep just follow its tracks – for example on the “WIDI Course”, a short track where the main ski and slope rules are explained to the little ones.

More advanced skiers should conquer the forest course “On the tracks of Wild Animals” – a truly exciting adventure! Come and discover the enchanted forest animals for yourselves. Every Wednesday at 3.00 pm there is a kids’ theater at the Hochoetz Kindergarten (in German). Great fun and action are guaranteed on a varied family holiday in the Hochoetz Ski Region.
