Magic Moon: Action-packed spectacle under the starry sky

Las Vegas boasts the Cirque du Soleil, Hochoetz has the Magic Moon Night Ski Show. And when it comes to ski acrobatics, action & wow effects it is in no way inferior to the shows held in the glittering US town. Heaps of sparkling moments under the starry sky await you in the Hochoetz Ski Region – both acrobats and spectators can witness action-packed fireworks at their finest. We are going to tell you a bit more about the unparalleled show, the paragliding artists of Oetz Air and how they prepare.

Multi-faceted show program on two nights

Among the regular guests of the Lower Ötztal the Magic Moon Night Ski Show held in Hochoetz is an absolute must – a truly unrivaled open-air ski show under the night sky, featuring a huge range of new highlights and attractions every year.

Also this winter the slogan is “Clear the Stage” for daredevil stunts and unlimited action on two evenings from 8:30 pm: 08 February and 08 March 2017! But let’s take one thing at a time. The certified ski instructors of the local Hochoetz ski school start the Magic Moon Night Ski Show with a superb formation skiing program that leaves nothing to be desired.

Show of the elements

In the second part, the artistic group “Pyroterra” from Prague performs a marvelous fire show with incredible pyrotechnical stunts, followed by a breathtaking LED high-tech program that creates memories staying with you forever.

Once again the ski and snowboard acrobats return to the open-air stage and the giant jump that has been built specifically for the Magic Moon Night Ski Show. Quick turns and spins, risky stunts and figures, somersaults and flips are on the fabulous program. On top of that, the acrobats also do jumps with a skidoo.

All good things come from above? The same is true at the Magic Moon Night Ski Show in Hochoetz. Now you should watch out for the skilled paragliders of Oetz Air, floating almost weightlessly in the sky like dancers approaching the snow-covered ground.

Total commitment of Oetz Air

Oetz Air is not a valley-wide airline but a professional paragliding company in Oetz. The pilots also take part in the Magic Moon Night Ski Show. And the crew of Oetz Air, guided by its owner Adi Meierkord, is quite excited too.

Preparation works start already long before: some 120 to 160 single LED lights are sewed on the paragliders like sparkling little stars – a unique lighting system applied only here in Oetz. It takes about 20 working hours for each paraglider! Maybe that’s the reason why this technique still wasn’t copied by others, Adi jokes. Each pilot prepares his paraglider himself.

A big challenge for each pilot is the start. Especially in the evening hours strong tailwinds can happen on the launch slope – which requires a very sporty and speedy start. Sometimes the wind is the winner of the match, followed by a belly landing. Fortunately it’s not dangerous in the snow but quite funny … at least for the spectators.
